The Moving Castle

4 Mar

There’s a moving castle out there,

walking endlessly, looking for something

I don’t know where it is or when it’ll come

but I’m waiting

The horizon is dark and empty,

the rest say that it’s no time for moving castles

But, I’m sure it’ll eventually come for me

It’ll invite me to joy it to its restless journey

And then, it’ll take me away, and that’ll will be good

because my journey to the depths of the unknown will just have begun…

Howl’s Moving Castle by Diana Wynne Jones was, is and will always be one of my favorite books. There are so many things hidden beneath her words. I could say that when I first read it, it was ‘love at first sight’. Plus, in 2004  Hayao Miyazaki directed the animated version of the book. Since then, I’ve seen it several times and every single time I discover something new. This little poem is what I felt while watching the bizarre and mysterious moving castle appearing through the thick fog of the wilds. If you haven’t seen it, I highly recommend it! Howl’s moving castle is a small sample of what animated films have achieved nowadays. It may be moving pictures put together in a linear order, but it will surely make you feel things you would never expect for a animated film to do.

You’re wearing that hat? After all the magic I used to make your dress pretty?
